At CrossFit Urge, we believe in the therapeutic benefits of massages. We provide the following three types of massage:
This is the most common style of massage, which gives a general therapeutic effect. Executed as a full body massage, as many sections as possible of the body are worked on in the given time frame. The more commonly named “light and fluffy” techniques are used here to give optimum relaxation to muscles and the nervous system.
This is a deeper and more specific massage that manipulates the soft tissues of the body to provide a specific therapeutic effect. It uses the same techniques as a Swedish massage but at a firmer pressure to focus on muscle dysfunction and problem areas for the client. Conditions that respond well with remedial massage include tendinitis, tendinosis, repetitive strain injury (RSI), trigger point syndrome, tension headaches and chronic muscle tightness due to bad posture. Our therapist works only to client tolerance with this type of massage and will always explain and give reasons as to the techniques used and various options to help the clients’ situation. Remedial massage works best in consecutive sessions.
This is the science and art of applying massage and related techniques to ensure health and wellbeing of the athlete and to enhance athletic performance.
Sports massage can be used to “restore” the athlete to optimal condition or to maintain optimal condition and can be used around the athletes training and competition schedule.
